Данный учебник, рассчитанный на студентов бакалавров, обучающихся в ВУЗах Республики по направлениям “астрономия” и “фуганка”, состоит ю шести глав. В этих главах говорится об основных астрофизических телескопах, их современных типах и дополнительных устройствах к ним, о существующих приемниках излучения, об их предназначешиг, а также об основных методах исследований практической астрофизики. В частности, в первой главе даются основные понятия и величины, применяемые в практической астрофизике, приводятся данные о спектре электромагнитного излучения, законы излучения, различные виды температуры. Во второй и третьей главах говорится о современных п та х астрофизических телескопов, об их основных характеристиках, а также о вспомогательных приспособлениях и приемниках излучения. Четвертая глава посвящена природе некоторых оптических эффектов, воздействующих на астрофизическое изобра­жение. В пятой главе почти полностью разобраны основные методы астрофизических исследований. В шестой главе даются методы определения основных характеристик звезд.

Paul Erd˝os liked to talk about The Book, in which God maintains the perfect proofs for mathematical theorems, following the dictum of G. H. Hardy that there is no permanent place for ugly mathematics. Erd˝os also said that you need not believe in God but, as a mathematician, you should believe in The Book. A few years ago, we suggested to him to write up a first (and very modest) approximation to The Book. He was enthusiastic about the idea and, characteristically, went to work immediately, filling page after page with his suggestions.
