В книге свыше двух тысяч задач различной сложности: от обычных школьных до олимпиадных, требующих сооб- разительности и нестандартного мышления.

The Invisible Universe: Dark Matter and Dark Energy
This book is an edited version of the review talks given in the Third Aegean School on the Invisible Universe: Dark Matter and Dark Energy, held in Karfas on Chios Island, Greece, from 26th of September to 1st of October 2005. The aim of this book is not to present another proceedings volume, but rather an advanced multiauthored textbook which meets the needs of both the postgraduate students and the young researchers, in the fields of Modern Cosmology and Astrophysics. The issue of dark matter and dark energy is one of the central interest in Astroparticle Physics, Astrophysics, Astronomy, and Modern Cosmology. Much of observational data indicate that there is a missing matter and missing energy in the Universe. Evidence of the existence of this unknown form of matter and energy can be obtained from different sources. In Astrophysics, the dynamics of galaxy formation and galaxy clusters can give information on the amount of missing matter. In Astroparticle physics, particle candidates were proposed from string theory and supersymmetry to identify the unknown matter. In Cosmology, the recent data from Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) and Supernovae Observations strongly indicate that there is a large amount of an unknown form of energy in the energy balance of the Universe. The purpose of this book is to present these issues and discuss in detail the physics involved.

THE GALACTIC BLACK HOLE
Evidence is accumulating that in the center of our own galaxy some 10 solar masses cluster in a region with a diameter of the order of a few astronomical units1. Theoretical analysis strongly suggests that this can only be a black hole. This is a gravitational configuration where the inner region is cut off from the outside by an event horizon, a semi-permeable closed surface surrounding it: material from the outside can fall in but communication from the inside to the outside is impossible. Studies of other galaxies have shown that such supermassive black holes are rather common and probably reside at the center of every galaxy. Cosmologically speaking, the supermassive black hole in the Galactic Center is in our backyard, only about 26 000 light years away from us. This makes it the best observed candidate for studying all aspects of black hole physics and is an ideal laboratory for black hole physics.

RADIIASTRONOMIYA ASOSLARI
Radioastronomiya zamonaviy astronomiyaning yirik yo`nalishlaridan biri bo`lib, uning kuzatuv asoslari nisbatan juda yaxshi rivojlangan. Bu yo`nalish tarixi qator kuzatuv sohasidagi yutuqlardan iborat. Karl Yanskiy 1931-1932 yillarda o`zining fanda yaxshi ma`lum bo`lgan dastlabki Radioastronomik kuzatuvlarini o`tkazgan. U 14,6 m to`lqin uzunligida radioshovqinlarini o`rgandi. Uning tajribalarida birinchi bo`lib Yer atmosferasidan tashqarida hosil bo`ladigan radionurlanishlar qayd qilindi.

The Fundamentals of Stellar Astrophysics
One may justifiability wonder why anyone would take the time to put a decadeold book on astrophysics on the WEB. Several events of the past few months have led me to believe that may well be some who wish to learn about the basics of stellar structure. Since the fundamentals of stellar astrophysics have changed little in the past decade and as this book has been out of print for nearly that long, I felt that some may still find it useful for learning the basics. The task was somewhat facilitated by my discovery of some old machine-readable disks that contained a version of the book including some of the corrections to the published version. With considerable help from Charles Knox, I was able to retrieve the information from the out-dated format and transfer the text to a contemporary word processor. However, the equations were lost in the process so that their inclusion in this edition had to take another form. This was accomplished by scanning the originals from the book and correcting those with errors in a variety of ways. This accounts for the fonts of the equations being somewhat at variance with that of the text. However, I believe that difference does not detract significantly from the understandability of the material. The most common form of correction was to simply re-set them with an equation editor embedded in the WORD processor. Equations look somewhat different from the others. However, the ability to correct errors that arose in the published edition seemed to out weigh any visual inconvenience.
