Рассматриваются теоретические и методологические положения логистики и управления цепями поставок, уделено внимание состоянию, тенденциям и перспективам развития логистики в нашей стране и за рубежом, приводятся примеры из практической деятельности отечественных и зарубежных компаний, иллюстрирующие применение теоретических положений логистики в бизнесе. Значительное место занимает применение методов и моделей логистики для оптимизации параметров логистических процессов, доказывающих, что логистика — это прежде всего искусство вычисления. Отдельные главы посвящены функциональным областям логистики, управлению запасами, складированию, транспортировке, вопросам управления логистическими процессами и цепями поставок, а также проектированию цепей поставок. В конце каждой главы представлены выводы, контрольные вопросы и задания для самостоятельного изучения, тесты, а также практические задания.

Public Transit Planning and Operation

The following story may serve to help understand the stimulus behind this book: A ship is sailing through a stormy ocean, and a little girl, who happens to be the captain’s daughter, is playing on the deck when all of a sudden a large wave carries her overboard into the sea. The captain, who sees this from his post, immediately orders his sailors to jump into the ocean and save the girl, but no one dares for fear of risking his life. In desperation, the captain turns to the passengers and asks them for help while promising that whoever saves his daughter will get anything he or she wants as a reward. Again, no one reacts. But then suddenly a man with a long beard, who had been standing by the railing, lurches overboard into the sea. The sailors throw him a life preserver, and fortunately he manages to lift the little girl safely back on deck and into the arms of her father. The captain then hugs the man, who is thoroughly drenched, and says he will give him anything he wants, just name it. The hero’s response: “I don’t want anything. I just want to know who pushed me. . . .”

Until recently, leathercraft seemed to be a dying art, but these days, leather is in fashion. The old-timers have retired and given up their toolsets, and the new generation is crafting leather with a clean, modern style and a beginner’s eye. Few are lucky enough to find a master to learn from, so their style is completely different. Nearly all are self-taught. That’s how we got started. In 2009, Geoff began bicycle commuting to work in Portland, Oregon. When he had ideas for bike products he couldn’t find, he decided to make them for himself out of leather. Geoff chose leather because it is strong, versatile, flexible, and durable, and because the bicycle is the modern horse. He was familiar with leather from growing up with horses on the family ranch outside Pendleton, Oregon, and was inspired by bikes from the golden age of cycling, whose Italian leather bar wraps look as good now as they did in the 1920s. He had no one to teach him leathercraft, but he knew design as a graduate of the architecture school, and fabrication as an artist.

Intelligent Transport Systems-Problems and Perspectives

The term “intelligent transport system” is used to name the integration of control, information and communication technologies with information and communication technologies. ITS covers all modes of transport and takes into account the dynamic interaction of all constituents of the transport system. A transport system can be considered effective if it is capable of linking all sources of data in the system to produce valuable information. This information is the basis for control and management decisions which are made by transport users and operators. The potential of Intelligent Transport Systems lies in their wide variety of applications in different modes of transport.
