Chipless RFID Authentication: Design, Realization and Characterization

This book is focused on taking the next step with the aim of developing chipless tags for highly secure product authentication applications. The concept of conventional chipless radio frequency identification (RFID) is extended to the authentication where each tag has to present a unique signature that can never be reproduced even if someone tries to copy the tag. For this purpose, natural randomness (i.e. inherent in the fabrication process) along the dimensional parameters of resonators is used. Such natural randomness can produce unique electromagnetic (EM) signatures that can be used for authentication.

Principles of Inductive Near Field Communications for Internet of Things

Over the past five years renewed interest and rapid progress has been made in the application of inductive methods to telecommunications in difficult terrains where radiating radio waves are prone to interference, in near field communications, power transfer and data telemetry from embedded medical devices, wireless power transfer, sensing and in the recent two years, Internet of things (IoT). All of these emerging technologies operate over short range and mostly in the near field region of antennas where energy is transferred by coupling magnetic flux from one antenna to the other.
