The greater emphasis on advanced imaging required an expansion of one prior chapter into three separate new chapters: Chapter 4, Computed Tomography; Chapter 5, Magnetic Resonance Imaging; and Chapter 6, Diagnostic Ultrasound. Each chapter provides a concise explanation of the technology, how to view the images, and the clinical applications of each. Of note in Chapter 4 is the addition of 16 brain scans. Although neurological imaging is outside the scope of this text, an overview of normal brain tissue in common scanning planes and examples of pathologies serves to provide the reader with a foundation for looking at other neurological texts.
